COMMON MISTAKES IN JOB INTERVIEW

The following are the most common mistakes one should not perform during the interview:
1.Yawning:
Duing this it shows that you are very tired or hungry or its a sign of loosing concentration. So don't try this

2.Having your Phone on:
Do not enter the interview room while your phone is on, you will be disqualified, do not even say sorry for a minute then picking up a phone. The best way is to switch off your phone, this is due to the fact that when your phone is on you might receive a message from your girl friend/boyfriend saying its over between us, automatically you will be confused.

3.Chewing a Gum:
Take an example from Sir Alex ferg.. Manchester united coach always is chewing a gum, that means that he is not afraid of any difficulty faces his team. There for chewing a gum also is the sign of overconfidence, so don't chew gum during the interview you will be disqualified.

4.Not being calm:
Here do not concentrate on reading banners,posters and other materials concerning the company, even mission and vision written on walls, remember in the past post that you have to prepare yourself before the interview.

5.Being too humbled:
Example an Interviewer may ask you a question about bottle mils, then you answer 350mils, this is the sign of being too humbled,here you were required to ask the Interviewer which bottle beer/Soda.

6.Changing a language:
Most of the people especially in Tanzania there is a tendency of mixing up languages ie. swahili and english (swanglish). If the Interviewer ask you a question in swahili then you have to answer it in swahili, if asked in english then answer in english.Example Swali:Umekokea chuo gani? jibu: You know it like aahhh!, nimetokea National Institute of Transport.

HOW TO CREATE JOB NETWORKING.

Job networking is the most important thing that can help a Graduate to get a Job. Most of the students do not prepare themselves when they are at college/University on what to do next after school, most of them think that they will be employed after school. But to secure a Job it is not an easy task you need to have a job network. Consider these key issues towards creating a Job network

1.Volunteer:
Through this you will get known to others, improve your skills, improve working ability as well as opening up your mind and probably think of employing yourself.

2.Develop positive self-esteem:
Every thing in life it begins with you, so start developing your positive self-esteem then other thing will come after.

3.Create a goal and a Vision:
creating a goal and a vision makes you to focus on which Job is proper for you that will help you to accomplish goals, always have a vision example once i finish up my studies i am thinking of opening my own company, don't think of capital because your ideas are enough capital.

4.Choose right friends:
Job networking can be created through right friends, take an example a graduate having having friends belongs to gangs, what those friend will advice him/her? conversely if you create friendship with with people who are employed, then they can give you a piece of advice or ways on how they succeeded.

5.Plan:
This is clear in the sense that usually proper planning prevents poor performance, if you plan well you can even create the job environment while you are at school/college/University.

6.Be creative and Aggressive:
Creativity is needed, being creative may help someone to get a job, not only being creative but also try to be aggressive while implementing issues.

COMMON INTERVIEW QUESTIONS

1.So tell us about yourself
Here most of the people tends to tell their life stories,example Iam Jacob banso I come from Ngopyolo village, my parents passed away long time ago and............, Interviewers do not need all these stories the aim of asking you such a question they expect mainly four things from you:-(i).Your official names (ii).Your education in relation to what you are applying for(iii).Experience you have and (iv).Extra knowledge and skills.

2.Do you have a weakness?
Here the answer should be "YES". this is due to the fact that nobody is perfect under the sun, conversely you are lying. state you weakness in a positive way example my weakness is that i admire working only with faithful people, and here is were the problem arises.But iam am struggling hard to overcome this by trying to make all people become failthful in their ways.

3.Why should we hire you?
Here you may say that this job i applied for it is my favourate one since when i was kid,so i believe that i will perform it efficiently from the bottom part of my heart, though i need money to sustain my life.This shows that you are not applying for the sake of getting money.

4.How much should we pay you?
The best way of answering this question is to return the question to the interviewer, you may ask that how much do you pay a person of my proffessional in your company? if they keep on asking then you may say Tshs.500,00 /600,000 /700,000 this will keep them in dilema and you will be in a safe side.And if the say direct we will pay you Tshs.500,00 how do you find that, here don't say yes try to think and bargain a bit, this will show show confident you are.

5.Are you a team player?
Here the answer should be "YES", but some of the people confuse this question, you may found that someone answer "i hate football". But the main aim of this question is to determine to whether you can work comfortably with your fellow workers.

6.What is your strength?
Simply answer this question that, I can work under pressure and I can work without supervision.

7.Why did you leave you last boss/Job?
Here do not describe your last Job stories negatively, but you may say other positive reasons that made you to leave the Job such as I resigned it because went to school to advance my carrier or the last job was contract based and the contract has come to an end or or you may answer it in any how but remember not blame the last Job/boss/

8.What is your policy?
Simply you may say that My policy is to focus on the goals, but these goals are for the benefit of the company/Organization you are applying for.

9.Have you applied somewhere else?
The base answer is "YES", here most of the people say NO this shows that you are lazy and you are not struggling hard to find a Job.

10.Doy you have a question?
Here most of the people tend to ask the company about the incentives that are provided to the workers, but it is not recommended to answer this question in this way, rather try to ask about the goals of the company so that you can make research on the way you can improve productivity of the company/organization.

PREPARATION BEFORE ATTENDING THE INTERVIEW.

The following key issue are to be considered while preparing to attend an interview:-

1.Do a research about the Company/organization:
This meams that you should have all the prior information about the company, how they conduct business activitie/ services and many more relating to a particular company.

2.Prepare yuorself before the interview:

This involves going through what you have lead from school, as well as setting your mind free and relaxed to avoid fear and panic during interview.
3.Be smart and on time:

being smart will attract the interviewer in the sense that if you look smart you will be smart at work as well. Moreover arriving late during the interview it shows that you will be arriving late at work and this may force the interviwers to disqualify you.

4.Remember names:
This do not mean that to remember your names, but before the interview Interviwers may introduce themselves to you, then it is you duty to remember them.Here you are recommended to go with something like notebook and write their names, when one of the interviwer asks you a question you can say thak you Mr X for the question and then proceed.This will add up credits

5.Shake hands firmly:
The way you shake hands with the interviewers

6.Smile:
It makes Interviewers happy, and some of them might be attracted through that

7.Be attentive:
Here you may use body language to show that you agree/ you understood the question.Listern carefully when the quetion is asked.

8.Be Confident:
Confidence is the key factor during the interview, this shows how smart you are in handling issues you may face at Job place.Failure to do so it shows that you are not sure of what you are standing for.

9.Take a thank you card:
Few days after the interview you may send the appreciation card to thank the interviewers, Interviews are human beings and they feel good once someone appreciate their work.

10.Do follow up:
If the company promise you that they will call you after a week do not wait untill the due time, go physically before and ask for progress, this is due to the fact that take an example you were ten candidates and all of you answered all questions correctly and the company needs only three people, then they might decide that the first three that will come to see the results will be employed,you see that?
